EAT ME SOON
Design lead | AI + App design
Introducing Eat Me Soon. The AI-driven, food-tracking app that tells a user what they have in their fridge and alerts them when it’s going out of date. Not only that, it gives users a recipe for how to use that item along other items in their fridge, meaning no more waste!
Problem
The average UK household wastes £70 monthly on uneaten food.
During a hack day exploring AI capabilities, myself and my team experimented with photo-scanning everyday items. Whilst scanning a snack revealed its price, origin, ingredients, and expiry date—alerting us it was expired and headed for waste. And so, the concept was born.
Solution
The app needed to provide effortless food tracking and send alerts based on expiry dates.
To enhance the experience, we also wanted to offer recipe suggestions that inspire users to use up their expiring items.
Delivery
I used a simple AI product builder to prototype the architecture and some key interactions like adding a item to your inventory (see below). Then using Material Design, I created an app design that was intuative and simple to use on a daily basis. I then added features like an overview section and ingredient filters to help users further.
Pairing with two developers, we built an MVP iOS version of the app to launch.
