ELVIE STRONG

Design lead | App design

Leading the scoping team through Elvie’s first digital-only product, from initial research, through to delivery and launch. Our mission was to give women a personalised, exercise plan that would help reduce their pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms.

I was trained by a behaviour change scientist to ensure a sticky experience and healthy habits were being formed.

Problem

Elvie Strong began with two focused insights.

  1. Users found using a physical device too much of a time-consuming barrier to improve their pelvic floor.

  2. Regular and consistent workouts are necessary to improve a user’s Pelvic Floor. (The gold standard being 3 X a day)

Solution

Our solution was to design an app-only product to help users perform quick, daily exercises.

The app scope consisted off game design, personalised workout plan logic, progression features, behaviour change frameworks, guidance videos, onboarding and subscription paywalls.

Delivery

I designed a simple app architecture and interface to ensure minimum cognitive load was required for use. I also crafted the personalised workout plan logic and a workout game visual that could technically evolve over time.

To ensure habits were being formed and we could achieve high engagement I also created a range of behaviour change features such as user levels and challenges, weekly goals, notification flows, escape routes and more.

The outcome

At the end of month two, users were achieving an average of 2 x workouts a day.

“Showing up and taking the time for you is really empowering”

Beta user feedback

App Store review

“I wish I had this available to me when I was pregnant.
